In 2012, the community-based support enterprise GrowBiz  was invited by Perth and Kinross Council to submit a proposal to support innovative, local and individual services to people with support needs in rural areas.  This was in direct response to the Scottish Government’s bill advocating self directed support.

An initial awareness-raising session was held in Aberfeldy in June 2013.  A core group then began to meet regularly as a GrowBiz peer support group for members offering creative out-of-the-box care services.

Throughout 2014, the word spread. New people offering relevant services in the wider Growbiz network became involved, evolving as a group of professionals who wished to develop as a co-operative.

Since then we have met monthly, taking inspiration from organizations with aims similar to our own such as Community Catalysts. At the same time building trust, supporting one another, sharing training and developing our ideas.

We registered The Perthshire Care & Wellbeing Co-operative, now known as The Care & Wellbeing Co-op, in March 2015.
