GrowBiz turns 10

Co-op members were out in force at the 10th anniversary party on June 29 celebrating GrowBiz’s on-going success in supporting rural Perthshire’s self-employed and lighting the spark under wannabe entrepreneurs.

With its registered office at 1 Perth Street in Blairgowrie, the co-op grew out of this marvellous organisation.

The party, hosted and catered for by The Red House Hotel in Coupar Angus, was attended by some 100 GrowBiz clients old and new, together with representatives of affiliated bodies.

Proceedings kicked off with an introduction by Catriona Rowan, the current Chair of GrowBiz, and were followed by a film shot and edited by co-op member and local photographer Kelly McIntyre, and featuring several co-op success stories.

There followed a panel discussion, facilitated by BBC radio presenter  Clare English, and including John Swinney MSP, Jenny Lyall (Agrivision), Ian Scott (CanDo Places), Tom Flanagan (PKC), Paul Murphy (RBS) and our own coordinator, Donna Murray-Trail.

Donna spoke eloquently and with her usual passion, describing how the idea of the co-op grew out of GrowBiz support and guidance, and bringing the audience up-to-date on our progress.

With the Perthshire Care and Wellbeing Co-operative turning two later in the year, and members grown from nine to over 25, there was a lot to celebrate. Hopefully even more by October.
